About CarNetNepal

HISTORY

Children At Risk Network Nepal (CarNetNepal) was unofficially formed on February 14, 2002 as a result of the ‘Children At Risk’ (C@R) conference that was held at Staff College, Jawalakhel, Lalitpur in the year 2000. The conference was organized in collaboration with Viva, Compassion International and Nepal Christian Society with about 300 people of different districts of Nepal.

Initially the vision of CarNetNepal was to be the voice of the voiceless children and networking among the child focus organizations. It could not make much achievement in its early stages due to lack of training and clarity on the idea of networking and advocacy. But after the vision for C@R was rooted inside, it realized that there is a greater need of CarNetNepal to strengthen and mobilize the communities to help and support the C@R, which is also our next generation.

Later in May 2005, it was registered with the government of Nepal as a non- profit and non- government social organization at District Administration Office (DAO) Lalitpur under the Act 2034 and was granted registration number 187/61/62. CarNetNepal is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council. The affiliation number is 18114.

After it’s registration, slowly and steadily it started to move forward and make much impact in the life of the people, especially the children at risk. Presently it is actively working for the holistic restoration of the children at risk through ‘Advocacy’, ‘Education’, ‘Rescue & Rehabilitation’, ‘Women Empowerment’, ‘Sustainable Livelihood’ and ‘Disaster Response’ activities.

CarNetNepal is the associate member of Viva Network and a member of NGO Federation of Nepal.
